You can transfer your existing email domain name to ACTION or create a new one. For a new email identity think of a name that you would like your members to show to the world that they belong to your community. For example:

Once you have some names, you can either check to see if the names are available yourself using our .au domain name check or we can do it for you. Some Australian domain names are only available to non-profit organisations. Your community members pay the same fee as the general public. $10 per month or $100 per year.

You can tailor the technical support for your community. We recommend you designate a technically-minded member of your community. We can also advise you of commercial services that can assist your members in setting up their email accounts. The cost of these services will be typically deducted from the community’s monthly rebate. Alternatively you can always receive free technical support by emailing support@aliencamel.com

There are three types of email service providers:

1. Bundled. Internet service providers such as Bigpond, AAPT & Optus and Domain Name hosting companies such as Webcentral, that bundle an email account as part of their principal service.
2. Free. Free email services operated by search engines or web sites eg Hotmail, Yahoo and Google.
3. Dedicated. Companies that offer email accounts as their principal business such as Alien Camel.

Bundled email services are typically simple and basic. They do not offer essential features that protect email users like virus blocking or spam filtering. Free email services are based on advertising and often "read" the emails to determine what advertising should be shown to the recipient.

Alien Camel's email service is better than Bundled and Free services because it offers advanced features that protect its users, makes using email simple and is absolutely private.

Your ACTION email address is a separate email account. You can use this email address as a separate service or integrate your existing email by forwarding your emails to your ACTION email address.

No. A subscriber can cancel their subscription at any time. There are no penalties.

When you first sign up we will email you helpful guidelines on marketing suggestions to encourage your community members to subscribe. We will also have a 9cays.com conversation (a free bulletin-board-style service) so you can connect with other communities to share your marketing ideas.

Yes, any community can participate in the ACTION program. You can also invite friends and family of your community members to participate.

No, any community group can participate in ACTION.

This will depend on your community’s tax status. Alien Camel will operate the email service for your community. Each month Alien Camel will prepare a statement and tax invoice for the amount of rebate you will receive and pay your community that amount.
